Some Facts the Taxpayers Should Know about the Present Administration

JOHN SHIVELL, the DICTATOR, is CHIEF DEPUTY to the RECORDER OF DEEDS, at a salary of $3,000.00 a year.

HE AS ALSO SCHOOL DIRECTOR OF PLAINS TOWNSHIP.

HE is the DICTATOR who gives out the JOBS on the WELFARE RELIEF, STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT. HE also tells who shall and shall not have JOBS in the various DEPARTMENTS of PLAINS TOWNSHIP.

HE has a truck on the STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT driven by HIS BROTHER, MICHAEL SHIVELL, which works every day while the State Highway trucks lay idle in the garage.

STANLEY SHIVELL, who is a BROTHER of the same JOHN SHIVELL was TWO JOBS. He is a BARBER, and TRUANT OFFICER FOR THE PLANS TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT.

Now we have MR. PETER F. GOOBIC with THREE JOBS. HE is a SCHOOL DIRECTOR, and SECRETARY for the SCHOOL BOARD at $1,800.00 a year. HE also holds a MONTHLY JOB at the mines which pays a very good salary. THIS same MR.: PETER GOOBIC still has TWO YEARS yet to serve as SCHOOL DIRECTOR and SECRETARY, but HE is not satisfied with these several good paying JOBS, and thinks all HE has to do is aspire for the OFFICE of TAX COLLECTOR and you, the voters of this TOWNSHIP will listen to his plea and put him into another office. It's up to you to choose between a man holding THREE JOBS and MINER ROBERTS who has been a FRIEND to all the taxpayers.

JOHN GOOBIC, BROTHER OF PETER, who is a COMMISSIONER of PLAINS TOWNSHIP, is another with THREE JOBS. HE is a COUNTY ASSESSOR, and HE has a SCHOOL BUSS CONTRACT to haul our children to and from school, which pays HIM from $180.00 to $190.00 per month. HE was running a GAS STATION until the N. R. A. Act came into effect, then HE got out of it because HE wouldn't compete with, and pay the wages the other Gas Station Owners of the TOWNSHIP decided to pay. So HE sold his station to a very good political friend, who thought he would also get the job of supplying the oil and gas for these same school buses - But he only thought he could get it.

REMEMBER THE SPIRIT OF THE N. R. A. - "ONE MAN TO EVERY JOB"

MICHAEL JUGON who is a HALF-BROTHER of PETER and JOHN GOOBIC is now holding the JOB of ASSISTANT CHIEF of POLICE of PLAINS TOWNSHIP.

IT'S A FAMILY AFFAIR!

Now, there is MR. FRANK CARDONI, HE is a SCHOOL DIRECTOR, also a UNION ORGANIZER, and has a TRUCK on the STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT which his BROTHER-IN-LAW drives. The there is HIS BROTHER who is SUPERINTENDENT of GROUNDS and BUILDINGS for the PLAINS TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT. MR. CARDONI is the man who says he has the First District in his Vest Pocket.

Do the voters of PLAINS TOWNSHIP want GEORGE HARRISON for SCHOOL DIRECTOR? HE didn't want SCHOOL DIRECTOR himself when you voters elected him to the office - and what happened! HE thought so little of the HONOR that was given to him that he RESIGNED to take MINER ROBERTS' JOB as TAX COLLECTOR, when the BIG POWERS took the COLLECTORSHIP away from MR. ROBERTS. GEORGE HARRISON let himself be used as a TOOL, and he woke up one morning to find out that he didn't have either SCHOOL DIRECTOR or TAX COLLECTOR.

DOES THIS TYPE OF OFFICE SEEKER DESERVE YOUR SUPPORT?

ALLEN RANDALL, who in 1931 was forced to resign as PRESIDENT of the COMMISSIONER BOARD because of CHARGES preferred against him for holding up a beer truck driver for $300.00 "SHAKEDOWN", - see the article in the papers published in Wilkes-Barre, June 13, 1931. But after MR. ALLEN RANDALL RESIGNED there was nothing more heard of this OUTRAGEOUS ACT. WHY? Right after this when Mr. Harrison resigned as SCHOOL DIRECTOR and TREASURER of the SCHOOL BOARD to become a TAX COLLECTOR, this same MR. RANDALL was appointed to the office of SCHOOL DIRECTOR to fill MR. HARRISON'S place, besides this MR. RANDALL has a steady JOB at a coal mine, and also seems to have the power of COMMISSIONER in his district. And now this ADMINISTRATION is running the same MR. HARRISON AND RANDALL for SCHOOL DIRECTORS.

Do you voters and taxpayers of Plains Township, who raise and educate your children in our public schools, think it fair to the men and women who have spent their time and money, in educating themselves to be fit to teach our children, to have their jobs of teachers put on the political block and have their appointments held up until the eleventh hour? Was the fair to our teachers, if the weren't appointed, they had no jobs and no time to go out and get one. A few years ago when this administration was running for office, they said they would not play politics in school matters - HAVE THEY DONE THIS? NO - the teachers' jobs are still on the old political block. ASK THE TEACHERS - THEY KNOW.

As taxpayers and voters do you - and will you - stand for this all the time? OF COURSE NOT, - THEN VOTE

MINER ROBERTS, for treasurer

JOHN (Jack) OLDERSHAW and

Attorney SAM TORCHIA

For School Directors
